A pair of Bob Baffert-trained stablemates drew side by side in their Santa Anita debuts. BRILLIANTLY (Uncle Mo), the outside runner of the two, cost the partnership of Pegram, Watson and Weitman $500,000 as a yearling at Keeneland in 2023. She is the second foal out of a stakes-placed Bernardini first dam from the family of Canadian champion 3-year-old filly Leigh Court (Grand Slam). Inside of her, Maysam (Game Winner), from an American Pharoah first dam, put in a quick furlong breeze to bring the same $500,000 price tag at OBS March last spring for Michael Lund Petersen. Also drawn beside one another, Holding Company (Curlin), a $400,000 FTSAUG buy for Klaravich Stables will take on second-time starter Flight of Fancy (Into Mischief), the half-sister to Horse of the Year Flightline. Holding Company is out of a half-sister to MGISW Exaggerator (Curlin) while Flight of Fancy was second in her six-furlong debut at Tampa Dec. 7 and stretches out Friday with Lasix. TJCIS PPS
